Who We Are
Growing up in 1970’s Hollywood, Tracy and Sloane were surrounded by art and architecture from go. When Sloane moved to New York to pursue a career in art history and writing, Tracy stayed in LA and opened Hollywood’s Y Que Trading Post on Vermont Ave, followed by Zanzabelle in Los Feliz. Over the years, between books and store-openings, the sisters fell organically into design work, each quietly creating interiors for people who eschewed trends and wanted something different. When Sloane moved back to California, and they decided to make it official, and Tanenworks was born.
Methodology
Our design philosophy is that well-designed rooms have origin stories, that a single painting, chair, textile, or architectural detail is the key to creating intentional places. We work to help you identify that inspiration, to edit what you have, suggest what you need, and help draft and craft the story you want to tell. Above all we believe in slow design for timeless spaces, in letting your home unfold naturally, one room at a time.
Sloane is based in Oakland, CA while Tracy moves between Los Angeles and Tennessee.
